This technique is very effective. From the first deep breath in an upright position,you are aware of the shallowness of your breathing before.After a couple of deep breaths, relaxation floods your mind and body.

I slept like a log. It’s a great, yet simple, breathing exercise and your tone of voice adds to the relaxation. The noisiest train could run over me but I slept steady, just like the railroad log, unmoved.
